Ark Glasgow – Glasgow

From the Howgait, head to Glasgow Cathedral. The oldest cathedral on the Scottish mainland, it contains a holy well dedicated to St Mungo. Be sure to explore the crypt: one pillar is marked with mysterious Hebrew inscriptions.

From the Cathedral, you can walk along Church Lane to the Glasgow Necropolis, a sprawling Victorian cemetery of numerous architectural styles. On the way back to the pub, note Provand’s Lordship, Glasgow’s oldest house, dating to the fifteenth century.

Once back at the Howgait you can take a diversion to Glasgow’s famous Sighthill Stone Circle, located less than a mile to the north of the pub. This modern, astronomically aligned circle was built in 1979 and renovated recently. Cracking for the solstices apparently.
