Craft Beer FAQs

If you’re looking for a low-calorie beer, you’ll want to look for beers that have a lower ABV (alcohol content). Alcohol free beer and low ABV beer vary in calorie count depending on the different brewing methods and ingredients and all that jazz. How many calories? That really depends. But in general, they’ll be lower in calories than a full-alcohol beer.

Yep. In its basic form, beer is kind of like liquid bread. The base of any beer is a malt – usually a grain like barley, wheat, or oats which have carbohydrates in. Also, hops (the flavour powerhouses of your favourite beers) also contain carbs. So beer is pretty carb-heavy.

When you’re out for a beer with your mates, most people are more interested in arm wrestling over the last pork scratching or listening to your pals argue over whose Pokémon team is more powerful than how many calories are in the beer.

Fun fact time: About 60% of the calories in beer come from alcohol, the rest comes from carbohydrates. Don’t believe us? Check out our blog How Many Calories Are In Beer?
