We all love walkies – there’s nothing like getting out of the house and feeling the wind in our fur – uh… hair. And one of the best bits of going for walkies is heading to the pub afterwards. And if you can take your four-legged friend with you for a tasty bowl of water and maybe a biscuit or two, even better. Was this article written by a dog? We’ll never tell.
Whether you’re a standard poodle or a standard human, a dog-friendly pub is the place to be. You can always use our Beavertown beer finder to sniff out your next pint. Or, read on to check out our fave dog-friendly pubs. All serving up plenty of belly rubs and Neck Oil, of course.
Dog-Friendly Pubs in Central London
1. The Masons Arms, Mayfair
-
Address: 38 Maddox St, London W1S 1PY
-
Nearest Tube Station: Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus
If you’re feeling inspired by the latest season of Bridgerton, or if you’re tired from shopping, Mayfair is the place to go. Specifically in The Masons Arms. They love dogs here. Grab a pint of Beavertown and enjoy it, knowing your pooch will be getting plenty of pats and ear scratches.
2. Duke of York, Mayfair
-
Address: 8 Dering St, London W1S 1AF
-
Nearest Tube Station: Oxford Street, Bond Street
The Grand Old Duke of York may have had 10,000 men, but we’re actually here for the dogs. The Duke of York pub is serving up your favourite Beavertown with a side of pub grub and “good boys”. There may even be a treat or two being thrown around.
3. The Crown, Soho
-
Address: 64 Brewer St, Greater, London W1F 9TP
-
Nearest Tube Station: Piccadilly Circus
Going for a long walk is overrated. Especially because it’s London and it probably rained about 20 minutes ago. With the Golden Square just a stone’s throw away, The Crown is the perfect place to whip your Whippet around the park before settling in for a pint of Neck Oil and a gravy bone (and real gravy on your roast).
4. The Garrick Arms, Charing Cross
-
Address: 8-10, Charing Cross Rd, London WC2H 0HG
-
Nearest Tube Station: Leicester Square
Are you and your pooch fans of the theatre? Well, we’re pretty sure you can’t take your dog to see Hamilton. But either way, The Garrick Arms will welcome you both with open arms (and treat jar). It’s classy, it’s historical, and it loves dogs. And it’s serving up Beavertown with a side order of head pats. What more do you need?
5. Marlborough Arms, Bloomsbury
-
Address: 36 Torrington Pl, London WC1E 7LY
-
Nearest Tube Station: Goodge Street
This spot is right in between a bunch of squares and gardens. Head there for a snifter (or a pint of Neck Oil) after thoroughly sniffing every lamp post, bollard, traffic cone, tree, and other dogs in the nearby squares. We don’t need to say that we mean the dog, right?
Dog-Friendly Pubs in North London
1. Fox on the Green, Islington
-
Address: 1 Islington Grn, London N1 2XH
-
Nearest Tube Station: Angel
This pub’s a bit more dressed down than some others. But it welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes. So it’s a win in our book. And it’s conveniently located right on the green (hence the name, duh). So you can chuck a ball for your Jack Russell before chasing all that exercise with a pint.
2. The Hawley Arms, Camden
-
Address: 2 Castlehaven Rd, London NW1 8QU
-
Nearest Tube Station: Camden Road and Camden Town
The Hawley Arms in Camden may as well be called The Hawley Paws. Because they like dogs. Obviously. A great spot to stop after a walk down the canal, they say they want to create a home from home. And if that includes putting our feet up with good company and a pint of Neck Oil sign us up.
3. The White Lion, Finsbury Park
-
Address: 125-127 Stroud Green Rd, Finsbury Park, London N4 3PX
-
Nearest Tube Station: Crouch Hill
Sundays and Bank Holidays (and every day in between) are made for parks. And pub lunches. Thankfully, Finsbury Park has both. Make the walk as long as you like – although we can guarantee your four-legged friend will demand the full circular walk. Plus a few frisbee throws for good measure. Thankfully, it’s pretty flat so you can leave the crampons at home. When you’re done, head to The White Lion for good pub grub and plenty of belly rubs.
4. Mabel’s Tavern, Kings Cross
-
Address: 9 Mabledon Pl, London WC1H 9AZ
-
Nearest Tube Station: King’s Cross
What better place to go after stepping off the Eurostar (or just your regular tube train) than a haunted pub named after a mystery woman? You might need the dog for protection from the ghost of Mabel when you go for a pint here (don’t worry, she just messes around with the old dumbwaiter apparently). It’s a good job they’re very welcome here.
Dog-Friendly Pubs in East London
1. The Shakespeare, Bethnal Green
-
Address: 460 Bethnal Grn Rd, London E2 0EA
-
Nearest Tube Station: Bethnal Green
Good old Willy S loved dogs. Why did he mention them like 200 times in his works otherwise? And if the real guy loved them it makes sense for The Shakespeare in Bethnal Green to love them too. This is literally the tiniest pub ever (maybe). And it’s really close to Bethnal Green so you can take the dog out with you and pretend the walk was way longer by stopping for a pint on the way home.
2. Duke of Wellington, Spitalfields
-
Address: 12 Toynbee St, London E1 7NE
-
Nearest Tube Station: Liverpool Street, Aldgate East
If you’re into pub gardens in the city, this neighbourhood boozer is for you. You can guarantee a frosty pint of Beavertown here. And plenty of attention for the dog. So even if you can’t enjoy the pub garden thanks to the rain, at least the dog’ll be happy.
3. Three Tuns, Aldgate
-
Address: 36 Jewry St, Aldgate, City of London, London EC3N 2ET
-
Nearest Tube Station: Aldgate
The Three Tuns is a classic city pub with a tun (get it?) of good beers (but obviously you’re getting a Beavertown). And they’re always happy to shower a ton of love onto your best friend (the dog, not Big Dave). Let the hound bound around the nearby gardens before settling down for a drink.
Dog Friendly Pubs in West London
1. The Goose, Fulham
-
Address: 248 North End Rd, London SW6 1NL
-
Nearest Tube Station: West Compton, West Brompton
Despite being owned by the RedCat group, The Goose welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes. Stretch all 6 of your legs around the nearby Normand Park before finding a cosy spot in The Goose for a pint and pub grub – if you’re feeling peckish (see what we did there?).
2. Famous Three Kings, Fulham
-
Address: 171 North End Rd, London W14 9AE
-
Nearest Tube Station: West Kensington
Finding this pub couldn’t be easier. Just hop off the tube at West Kensington, proceed to the exit, turn right and boom, you’re at Famous Three Kings. There are also plenty of green spaces in the area which are perfect to let the dog loose for a while or to walk off the couple of beers you’ve enjoyed (responsibly) before you head back home.
There’s no shortage of dog lovers in London, and all the pubs to host them. All while serving up good beer and food with a side order of treats for your bestie. And if you’re one of those dog parents (or if you just think your dog is pretty cool), we’ve got a guide on the best gifts for dog parents too.
